Every girl knows that rushing through your beauty routine can lead to disastrous results. Stripes of blush on your cheeks, a casual smudge of lippie on your teeth. But you’d be hard pressed to beat the disaster that befell Rebecca Judd.

KIIS’s 3pm Pick Up host revealed on the show recently that she once managed to remove all her eyelashes in a lash curling incident gone very wrong.

Bec and her co-host Katie ‘Monty’ Diamond were chatting about magnetic lashes and the costs of eyelash maintenance when Bec revealed the tragedy.

Aged 19 and rushing to get to a modelling gig, the radio star stopped to quickly curl her lashes, with disastrous results. As Bec brought the curler to her eye, her elbow slipped and out came her lashes.

“I screamed,”Bec recalled, “the first thing I did was I called my mum and I cried.”

She had to head off to the modelling job looking like “a plucked chicken.”

Bec made do with the “random little ones” that survived, “clinging on to them for dear life.” In the two or three months it took her lashes to grow back she glued individual lash extensions to her remaining eyelashes.

It seems Bec hasn’t had much luck in the extensions department either, as she revealed she once contracted conjunctivitis while getting fake eyelashes. The fumes from the superglue used caused some sort of reaction. Poor Bec’s eyes were running and the next morning she woke up with conjunctivitis.

Despite her bad luck Bec perseveres with her lashes, claiming that “if I don’t have my fakes on I feel naked.”

If you’re worried about repeating Bec’s mistake, there are some easy tips to avoid pulling out your lashes. Firstly, please put down the heated eyelash curler, it’s a lash pulling disaster waiting to happen. Next make sure you’re looking after your lashes. That means getting that last bit of mascara off at night, no matter how much you just want to go to bed. Healthy well-cared-for lashes are less likely to break.

When curling your lashes make sure you go slowly and whatever you do don’t wiggle the curler around once you have your lashes closed in it. A harder grip makes a more dramatic curl but don’t go overboard.

And if you manage to pull out a few don’t despair, there are a multitude of serums and gels available that promote lash growth. You’ll be back to batting those lashes in no time.

While we're on the subject discover how this woman saves $45 a week thanks to this beauty treatment. Plus, Bec Judd reveals the health scare that sent her to a neurologist.
