5 proposal stories that will give you goosebumps
From the Great Wall of China to fireworks, to music videos and superyachts.
This has to be high on the list for world’s best jobs.
Gloria Gammo and her business partner Tania have created my proposal co. which organises high-end luxury proposals for people. Yep, they get free reign to plan everything from the ring and location to all the fun in between. Career change, anyone?
Their motto is to be unique and make a splash and their services start at $3000. "We start with a free consultation to find out everything about your relationship, come back to you with two customised ideas, pick one and we start planning. It’ll be unique to you, mean bucket loads to your lover, and you get to take the pressure off yourself," explains Gloria.
What type of kisser are you?0:56
Many of us draw kissing inspiration from our favourite movies. But which famous on-screen snog best represents your kissing style?
For those considering dropping a knee soon Gloria adds, "First things first, keep it personal. Is your love not an outdoorsy person? Don’t drag her up a mountain to propose to her at the top. Is she afraid of heights? Skip the hot air balloon ride. Dodging the things that aren’t fully her, will help you dodge clichés. As much as you might be tempted to go to uniqueproposalideas.com, there is nothing unique about the ideas you find online. You already know everything you need for a memorable proposal – you know her."
Being privy to one of the most romantic days in someone’s life, means these women have been exposed to some pretty epic moments. Here’s the best proposals they’ve planned and witnessed (so far!):
#1 A DAY OF ULTIMATE LUXURY
Leigh thought she was coming down to Sydney to visit her partner Daniel after his work trip. When she checked into the airport a business class ticket had been arranged for her. She arrived in Sydney and a chauffeur was waiting to greet her. She was taken to a Bentley and a love note from Daniel was handed to her by the chauffeur.
She was then dropped off at a jetty where a luxury super yacht was waiting to take her to her next secret destination. The skipper handed her another love note from Daniel with a glass of French champagne and asked her to sit back and enjoy herself. The yacht then took her to a private island in Sydney Harbour where Daniel was waiting for her and signs directed her which way to go.
Once she reached Daniel he dropped down on one knee and proposed to Leigh with perfect views of Sydney Harbour and a photographer to capture it all. The couple then boarded the superyacht and enjoyed an afternoon on the water with champagne and canapes. They were dropped off at the footsteps of the Park Hyatt Hotel where a suite had been arranged for the night and dinner at Bennelong Restaurant.
#2 MUSIC VIDEO EXTRAS
Zee’s favourite artist is RNB singer Jakiel Mariner (part of the group “Fourtunate” on X Factor 2012), so it was arranged for him to sing live at the proposal and an elaborate back story was orchestrated to keep it a surprise.
Our team organised a set up worthy of a romantic video clip and got in their acting roles as producers and directors who were putting together a video clip for Jakiel’s “upcoming YouTube video”.
When Lucky brought Zee to the location, he acted as if his friend, the videographer, organised for Lucky and Zee to watch Jakiel recording his video clip as part of Zee’s Christmas present.
Zee was asked to feature in the video as an extra and she agreed.
After a few takes where Zee was blindfold, Lucky tapped Zee on the shoulder, she took off her blindfold and turned around, just as we revealed a large MARRY ME sign with Lucky down on one knee and Jakiel singing her favourite song…
#3 THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA
Thanks to our travel stylists we can do some pretty amazing things around the world. Mathew wanted to propose to his girlfriend Justine in a unique way during their holiday in China. We organised a private guide to take them on a private tour to a quiet part of the Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world. During their tour, they were brought to a pre-arranged picnic on the terrace of one of the watch towers complete with champagne, rose petals, romantic music and red roses.
#4 LIGHTING UP THE SKY
Christian had been planning this proposal to Natalie for a few months and needed our help in bringing it all to life.
He wanted to take Natalie on a private dinner for two on a boat and sail around Sydney Harbour during the Vivid Light Festival in Sydney. We organised for a boat, wait staff and private chef with custom menu just for the two of them. The team where on board coordinating everything behind the scenes to ensure the timing was perfect.
After dinner, a custom made note was given to Natalie showing a timeline of their relationship together. After Natalie finished reading the note, Christian dropped down on one knee and proposed, when Natalie said yes, fireworks and a MARRY ME sign lit up the sky in celebration.
#5 BEACH PARADISE
Kanwal wanted to surprise Praveena with a beautiful styled canopy on the beach with hints of her favorite colour – blue, on their three year anniversary.
We styled a beautiful beach picnic for Kanwal to surprise Praveena with. They then celebrated together with cheese and wine as the sun set over the water.
